I called the owner to see if he would stand by his work. He told me I signed a contract that does not make him liable the minute he leaves the job site and I would have to pay (again) if we wanted him to repair it.
They installed a ridge vent on our house in Highland Park
This company was a recommendation from my Aunt who used their services years prior. Since he was so highly recommended, we did not shop around and even though the work seems to be done well (this was done back in May so only time will tell), the experience was really frustrating and aggravating.
We were very happy that the work that this company did I was skeptical at first because of the mixed reviews but knocked it out of the park in the end they started the job ahead of schedule finished quickly clean up was good
Honest, reliable, meticulous and brutally efficient are words that describe John Asch and his roofing team. Be ready because they show up when promised with a crew that is laser focused on getting the job done and done right. He’s installed thousands of roofs and uses only the best materials. His 20 year labor guaranty is unique in the industry and the quality of their work is such that I never expect to use it. Don’t hesitate to call John Asch Roofing.
Simply put, this is bad business and hence I feel it’s necessary to leave this detailed review.
They came back to look at the roof and lied to us, saying it was problems with the gutters and/or sophet that was causing the leakage.
I'll let the person reading this review to draw their own conclusions.
Our mistake was to not have him write it on the contract himself, because he retracted what he promised and after the work was done insisted to be given the full amount through check. To give the full amount of 8+ grand in check was too much for us so we had to do in two separate checks.
One day we took in the sign because it was going to rain and we did not want the water to pool around the sign. That evening after work, I came home trying to open the garage door and noticed it was not working properly. When my husband came to check on the door, it looked like it was tampered with, like someone tried to forcefully open our garage door. Our neighborhood is pretty safe so we were worried and confused wondering if this was an attempt by someone tried to break into our home.
My Aunt was appalled by the whole situation and then vowed to never recommend him again.
I think this company is in example of how some people who leave bad reviews may not be the most knowledgeable
My Aunt said she had no problems using a credit card for her roof and since then recommended this company to her friends aside from me. When we inquired about the use of credit card, they mention that they do not process the charge, but the supplier would with an additional 4% charge. Although disappointed, we asked about options for pay, half check and half credit card, and when he was writing up the contract for us, he said that would be no problem.
Coincidentally the next day, this company was looking for their sign and said they could not find it.
Needless to say I was very disappointed that he misdiagnosed the roofing issue and we are now paying double to repair it.
Since then we’ve had a gutter specialist and 2 other roofers prove (they took pictures) that the roof itself is still damaged and the gutter / sophet is in perfect working condition.
We recently had a new roof installed on our home. Two neighbors had previously used Asch Roofing and recommended them to us. Based on the quality of work and recommendation, we chose Asch. We do not regret this decision. The work was professionally done, and the area around the house was kept clean. The team worked hard and showed up on time. The job was done quickly and we are very happy with out new roof. There was always open communication between us and John. All questions were answered and we feel comfortable recommending them to anyone.
What made this annoying situation worse was that they have this sign board to advertise their services and they asked to leave it on our lawn for a week. We confirmed the timeline of when it would be taken back because we had such a sour experience and wanted the sign off our property as soon as possible. Despite saying this, they came more than a week later.
Asch completely misdiagnosed our roofing issue. They replaced slate tiles over a damaged foundation of the roof when the membrane under the slate needed to be replaced. Therefore we continued to see leakage in the same area they repaired.
